The Good: |
The median annual wage for California is 70,400. It ranked number 2 as the highest paying state for physical therapy. TOEFL, TSE and TWE are not required. There is no limit in the number of times you can take the exam. |
The Bad: |
California ranked 49 for cost of living making it one of the most expensive places to live. Foreign therapists are not issued a temporary license. 9 months clinical internship is required. Jurisprudence exam is required. |
Overall: |
High cost of living and a long list of licensure requirements can be overlooked with a generous compensation package. |

First of all, if you don't have your Social Security Number your applications will be returned to you. I know this because my friend already did and her applications were returned because PTBC doesn't accepts Alternate Identification Number or other Identification Nos. There are no other exemptions.
You can try to apply to other state first and be relocated after a year or once you have your license already in CA.
But... If you do have your Social Security Number with you and all the other requirements ,PTBC will review your application upon receipt for abut 2-3 weeks. Do not contact the board to check on the status of your evaluation. You will receive a letter in the mail once your credentials have been reviewed. |
